THE PROJECT - CHYS ARCADE

Virtual reality is on the cutting edge of technology and will bring about many changes in communication, entertainment, and user interaction. As with all new technologies, the costs involved at this early stage of development can be too high for the average user. However, the Google Cardboard is an affordable and easily obtainable product that allows almost anyone to experience virtual reality. CHYS_rcade is a virtual arcade that allows users to play classic arcade games in a virtual reality environment as well as interact with other users. Development for CHYS_rcade is done on Unity, which has a Google Cardboard SDK and can be deployed for iOS and Android devices simultaneously

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

CHYS_rcade brings a virtual reality gaming experience to the smart phone, where users join realistic 3-dimensional rooms. The system uses a Google Cardboard to immerse the user in the gaming environment. In these rooms they are free to view the room by physically turning their heads and moving their gaze. Users will also be able to bob their heads and physically emulate walking movement around the room. There are currently three games that are accessed through interacting with arcade machines in the arcade room.

The arcade room from a first person perspective, creating a sense of realism.

Demonstration of how the Google Cardboard looks.

CH_oin Runner is a maze game where the player must collect coins to earn points.

Attack of the CH_ubes is a first person shooter that requires the player to constantly be on a 360-degree lookout for encroaching red boxes.
